West Africa is experiencing the worst Ebola outbreak in history, a situation the World Health Organization says is “a public health emergency of international concern”.

In Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a national emergency on the control and containment of the Ebola Virus Disease and had approved an intervention fund of 1.9 billion Naira.

So far, four people have died from the virus and 10 people have been confirmed with the Ebola Virus Disease.

In the second week of August, the House of Representatives Committee on Environment had a meeting with some government agencies to brainstorm on actions to curb the spread of the disease, which has claimed four lives so far in Nigeria, with over 150 under surveillance.
