A Spanish nursing assistant the first person to contract Ebola outside of West Africa… has been discharged… following more than a month of treatment.
The 44-year-old had been kept at the Madrid hospital for follow-up care for about two weeks… after being declared Ebola-free.
In a press conference… she expressed her gratitude and said… it was memories of family and her husband that had kept her going.
She added she still did not know what exactly led her to catch the disease.
Meanwhile, figures from the Africa Governance Initiative show that infection rates in Sierra Leone spiked nine-fold… to a daily average of 12 new Ebola cases late last month… from 1-point-3 cases seen at the start of September.
