Sierra Leone cancels Christmas celebrations to fight Ebola outbreak

Sierra Leone has announced house-to-house searches for Ebola patients and internal travel restrictions as part of a new plan to battle the outbreak.

Infected people will then be transported to treatment centres.

The government cancelled Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

Soldiers will be stationed in the streets to stop parties and prevent travel to see loved ones.

President Bai Koroma explained the reasons behind the government’s actions.
