Joy Uzor, Abuja: With the re-emergence of Ebola in the democratic republic of Congo, medical experts in Nigeria are braced to ensure it does not pose any threat to Nigeria and their citizens.
National coordinator and chief executive officer of the national Centre for disease control Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu gave the assurance when he featured on NTA’s breakfast programme Good Morning Nigeria to discuss parameters in place to avoid a recurrence of the 2014 experience.
Dr Ihekweazu who expressed confidence with the massive response in NCDC, says there is increased surveillance in all the nation’s port of entry and the nation has easy access to vaccines through international collaboration.
He said Nigeria is blessed with skilled medical personnel ready to respond to any reported case of Ebola
NCDC national chairman however called for infrastructural upgrade of laboratory facilities in the country while increasing the response mechanism and surveillance across the country’s land borders.
