Thanks to your generous support, Mali Relief was able to visit Souleymanebougou refugee camp in Koulikoro, Mali and Gnamana refugee camp in Bamako, Mali to listen to the devastating stories of displaced Malians from the northern part of the embattled country. Sister Djeneba Habib Diakite, a Malian-American and believer at Masjid al-Farooq visited with displaced families from northern Mali sharing homes in Bamako, Mali’s capital.
On a subsequent visit, Imam Ousmane Drame of Masjid al-Farooq and President of Mali Relief, along with Brother Muhammed Shirazi, braved life and limb to assess the critical needs of our brothers and sisters who fled their homes and livelihoods in cities such as Gao and Timbuktu in northern Mali to escape the oppression of armed separatists and rogue elements hiding under the banner of Islam.
