24 August – The 2014 Ebola outbreak is the worst the continent has ever faced. It is putting increased pressure on the budgets of affected economies. Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea have turned to selling debt to raise funds to fight the outbreak. But analysts are concerned, saying these countries already have high debt-to-GDP levels.
