Dr. Julie Fischer, Senior Technical Advisor for Global Health at CRDF Global, will examine how misinformation and disinformation affect community acceptance of public health interventions. She will focus on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the lessons observed during the 2014-16 Ebola virus epidemic.

Dr. Jad Melki, Associate Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Lebanese American University, will discuss a Lebanon-focused study that examines the relationship between media exposure to COVID-19 news and compliance with prevention measures. He will also highlight the importance of consistent communication in mitigating pandemics.

Pharmacist and Medical Toxicologist, Dr. Lotte Høgberg, will be providing a short update in the COVID-19 mink situation in Denmark, detailing the timeline of the appearance of the COVID Cluster-5 mutation, its foot print in the mink farms, the theories of spread between the farms, the number and timeline of infected humans (estimate), and the actions taken to contain the mutation.
